86 9KT 130K miles : Recently my usually relible old "Olaf" has exhibited the frightening habit of suddenly going dead ,as if someone had just turned the ign. off and on quickly !
The tach. drops to zero RPM , the seat belt light comes on . and then the engine runs fine , sometimes for days .
The first time it happened I thought it had popped out of 5th gear but it seems it is something to do with the ignition .I have a new battery (April) and the connections are tight with no corrosion . I can see nothing wrong with the distributor or ignition wires .
Is ther a "Rev Limiter" on the 86T ? Could it be defective ? I was only doing 50 - 70 MPH in 5th when it happened . (about 6 or 7 times over 3 weeks).
On monday after a short run of 15 - 20 miles and sitting for about 3 hours it would not start . That is : it would start but die right away.
After checking under the hood and finding nothing amiss (10 min. approx), it started and ran fine for the rest of the day !
Has anyone had this problem ? Ever ?
