Cranking the engine

I'm getting close to having my engine all back together after a head gasket replacement. Since it has sat for a few months during this process and had all the oil drained from it, would it be wise to crank it over with the DI removed until it finally gets some oil pressure when the time comes? Will this do damage to the circuits feeding the DI or anything else anyone can think of?
Thanks everyone!
