I'm pretty sure its not a diode but a thermal fuse. It opens if the resistor gets to hot. Take it to an appliance repair shop and see if they can match it up, simmilar ones are used in coffee pots and toasters. Not 100% sure on a 91, but the A/C should be separate circuits, unless something got in the fan and blocked it causing other fuses in the circuit to blow. Check the main fuse block for signs of overheating, but more likely than not you have 2 separate problems.
