Funny thing., I just did a mod last night due to my resistor blowing as well. I spoke with Don at Andrews of Princeton, and he suggested I replace the old thermo plug with a cooler plug. It kicks in earlier thereby allowing the engine to run a little cooler. It was a 15 minute job and I don't need to worry about loosing a resistor anymore as the cicuit bypasses the resistor and goes straight to the lower temperature thermo plug. I live in St. Louis where the temps have been around 100 F. I'm now running at dead center 9:00 on the temp guage with all systems on and functioning well. Before I did the mod, and before my resistor blew I would run between 10:00 and 11:00 depending on the load and temps outside.
