1°- The Aero is a tremandous nice car to drive. Safe, fast and very comfortable.
2°- It needs an all-time attention ( of every moment ) to prevent hypothetical failures.
3°- Those failures can cost the skin of your butt.
4°- To avoid those ones you should : a) find a good reliable independant mechanic
b) assume financially a very steady and regular service maintenance. Considering the year of made of
this aero, personnally ( 'cause I am a freaky paranoïd ) I'll do a little service every 5.000 kms and a
big one every 15.000 kms.
5°- No japanese cars of that kind of price are gonna be so great looking and so pleasant to drive.
6°- No japanese cars of that kind of price are gonna save of live ( or your physical integrity ) if you crash at a cruisin' speed.
7°- If you change your mind a year after you've bought the aero and wanna sell it : you'll find more or less your money again.
8°- Nobody ( except a nutcake ) will ever buy your japanese the same price you have bought it.
9°- The Aero will maybe lead you to drive above the speed limits according to US and CDN regulations. ' cause you won't feel the speed.
And it's fun. Be prepared for that. Highway Patrol Men love Aeros ... their drivers ... and their licenses ... and their bucks ...
10°- Own an Aero or, more simply, a Saab is addictive.
11°- It's reliable ( very ) on all sorts of roads and in every kind of weather ( snow is no problem at all ).
12°- Aero is a highway car ... city urban traffic is not really great for them.
So ?
Buy it if you are certain that you will have an amount of money ready to use to maintenance or repairs. Estimate this amount above what you
can imagine, so there won't be any though surprise.
If you want the fun, with a back feeling of apprehension and fear that you are able to manage ( will it start again next morning ? ) , buy the
Aero.
If you just want a car, reliable, with no story, no feelings of what so ever, no surprise, no nothing ... go japanese. Try to find a Lexus of the same year with services record. Or go for a Subaru, a Honda legend of the same year or a Nissan Maxima. You'll be able to find them around the same price of the Saab ( I guess ... here, in Belgium, you are anyway ) and they are good cars. Gutless, but good.
Or, if you want to reduce the probability of the problems : find a Saab, manual, with no turbo, no TCS.
So what are you goin' to decide ? ( I am so curious about that ).
Anyway : GOOD LUCK ... with your studies ... and your car. Take care.
