Clarion tech support batting zero

Well, that's three strikes against Clarion tech support. First, they tell me no Clarion aftermarket unit will work in a stock Saab setup, then after I informed them that the DC-625 was purchased and is working perfectly in my car they say that it might work now but may fail later. Huh? When, 2020?
Then they tell me the only difference between the 635 and 625 is that only the latter will work with CD-R's. WTF? I won't be calling these dodos back for any advise. Imagine selling a CD-changer that won't play CR-R's in 2002.
As if that weren't enough, they told me only one dealer (in CO) could fix it, and it'd cost $250. I just sent it to Kachina Saab, who quoted me $125 (flat rate on all stereo repairs).
My feeling is that (1) they didn't want to sell me just a changer, and (2) they probably wanted to sell a changer *and* new receiver, which of course are 100% compatible with each other. What is certain is that their credibility with me is naught.
