The only thing that I would take exception to is blaming radiator core leaks on corrosion. Repeated thermal stressing takes a big toll on metals, especially thin walled metals and especially at welds and hot spots. Every time you bring the car up to operating temperature (worse if you run it very hot as on a long trip) you undergo a temperature cycle, which stresses the metal because of the temperature differential throughout the radiator. At points where the metal is not free to expand in all directions, the metal is especially stressed. Repeated stress cycles result in metal fatigue. Metal can take only so much of this fatigue before failure takes place. And the failure will almost certainly take place at either welds or hot spots. The hot spots on radiators for vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions are at the transmission cooler.
Visible corrosion on the block or head ARE attributable to corrosion. I doubt anyone will ever report a case of this in a well maintained Saab using any of the extended life coolants.
