Hi Kiwi,
My '93 9k CD had similar symptoms when I first got her, stumbling and stalling-out in traffic here in Hong Kong brings immediate noisy responses! I searched the BB and read all of the prognostications about vacuum hoses, bad DI cassettes and other expensive and pessimistic problems. My SAAB-enthusiast mechanic took one quick drive and tipped a pint or more of methyl alcohol into the tank to enable the car to digest the water which had condensed in the tank. HK is hot and humid in the summer, evaporating fuel cools the tank-walls and condensation is the result. After the alcohol treatment, no problems with stuttering/stalling. I know it can be a million other things, but why not check this one out first? it never hurts to eliminate one cause from the list.
Boost problems, I can't help with, sorry.
