Hi all,
Kyle and I fixed my exhaust leak from the mani to turbo. Upon disassembly we, of course, snapped one the downpipe studs. Luckly I had the same piece from a dead turbo with good studs. When we opened the turbo (removed the exhaust side) we discovered cracks in the "by-pass space". When I say the by-pass I mean that part of the turbo that has the wastegate plate. The wall between the exhaust sprocket and the by-pass space had cracks!!!
We bought some steel+sodiumsilicate compound that is supposedly good for 2000F, I figure even if its good to 1000F it may still help. I DO realize that turbo will die, perhaps now a little later than sooner but who knows.
After re-assembly, there is still a leak present. Brilliant!!!, I think that either the mani or turbo surfaces are warped.
BTW, To make myself feel better I bought some Sylvania silverstar's bulbs only to discover that I had a HOLE in the headlight lense froma rock the size of a half o dime (3mm).
