I have a 97 CS LTP 5sp (light pressure turbo)that I believe is 170 hp; its fast enough for highway work. I also have a non turbo 92 900S with a five speed and its more than adequate on the higghway, but its slow off the line. My friend has an auto on her 91 900 S non turbo and I don't like it, too slow and unsporting.
The 9000 is more comfortable, quieter and rides better. The balance shaft motor is smoother. If you want a solid second car go for it. You could probably score better wheels and a leather interior through the classifieds and install a CD changer. Wood dash kits are $200. Sunroof, though is a tough one.
I would recommend getting a five speed over the auto, though as the auto saps power. However, it depends what you use it for. If its a screaming buy, go for it. Even in base trim its a better ride than the 900.
