Last week I had the same problem with my '89 9000S, My fix was simple and one I should have thought of sooner. Sounds to me like it is probably the same thing. It might just be that your thermostat needs changing. It is $12-$18 dollar part, and if you can not change it yourself, buy the part, take it to your mechanic or any mechanic and tell them you were going to change it yourself but then thought better of it. Then you only pay for the labor on a 30 min. job(+ the cost of the part).

Simple and cheap and does the trick.

If you decide to tackle it yourself, contact me I will gladly give you a clear step-by-step walkthrough. Only takes 2 tools and 30 mins.
