in (a warm place) that Saab would cover anything on an 87 9000 (I think that's what you have)
It could some aftermarket shocks that have stressed the metal to the point of breaking. Or a crash at some point and time.
Have you had the car since new and knows its history?
Without looking into it I couldn't say if it's worth welding or not, but I don't see a reason why it would not be possible to melt it together and make it last the reminding years of the car.
