I put a new stereo in my 1994 9000 Aero. I did everything above as far as removal and got the harness adaptor (same one from my 1988 900 except for the rear speaker wires). So I found the amp under the passenger seat. Knew I had to bypass it, so I went and looked at the wires that go to the rear speakers (colors/stripes) and then found the corresponding wires at the amp under the seat.
Once I knew which wires went to the rear speakers, I just cut them at the harness by the amp and spliced a section of wire frim there to the wiring harness for the new head unit in the dash.
I soon installed a 5 channel amp so these wires don't do anything anymore, but they're there just in case.
Oh yeah, I also unplugged everything from the amp (also just in case) and I left enough wire before the harness to reconnect the speakers to the amp (you guessed it: just in case)
Hope this is helpful, if you have more ??'s email me.
