Remember, you're just using a very simplified model - you're assuming that there's constant linear relationship between power and speed. Depending on the horsepower, it's a different matter to slice through the air at 3k rpm than 6k rpm! However, you're probably not far from what a more sophisticated model, that took into account air friction, would give as a result. All 9000's with the 83:23 final gears seem to go about 85 mph @ 3k rpm.
