Rebuild it.. and you will have confidence in the condition.
Parts count is reasonably low. You may need pistons but hopefully these are still good, check ring lands carefully. Hone cylinders.
Crank may need a grind but that's not pricey, always use a new oil pump. Study Chain drive assembly replace whats worn.. and yer ready to reassemble. This Ain't Rocket science.. just be carefull and methodical to avoid the silly 'absent minded' events.
