AC woes, 4 mechanics stumped so far... any suggestions?

Good tricks that is... other than selling the car or rolling my windows down. My car: 88 9000T with ACC
AC blows cool (78 F which in Oklahoma is cool). New compresor, line (the one that was clogged), dryer, expansion valve. Converted to r134a. Repeatedly flushed and vacuumed and charged with the same result. The compresor runs continuously, the pressure is about 160-170 on the high-side and less than 20 on the low (12-17). Frost actually builds on the expansion valve and there is condensation. The evaporator remains tepid at best. I've taken this thing to three shops and the best that they came up with was that the evaporator may be clogged, but they only said that because it was the one thing they didn't test I suspect. Today I evacuated the system, unhooked the evaporator lines, flushed the evaporator until the solvent ran clear, reconnected everything, put a hard vacuum on the system for almost 1.5 hours, recharged it, and nothing changed for the better.
Any tricks I should know about?
I would greatly appreciate any help as I am suppossed to take a longish road trip over the 4th.
Thanks,
Joe
