Smoke? What color? Acrid, electrical smell?...

It was white, or whitish gray. And yes there was (and are still remnants of) an acrid smell.

I'd guess blower motor controller ... if forced to guess. Possibly the blower motor - you can check it by running battery power directly to it and seeing how dramatic the results are...

Where is the blower motor controller and how would I run power to it -- and would dramatic include fireworks? ;)

I would not think it's the ACC unit, as it's not in the duct work; the blower and controller are.

ME
But if it's not the ACC, why are none of the lights functioning? Could it be both the blower and the ACC? if so, does that give you a clue as to where to look first?
