I don't know what to tell you except to follow the maintenance schedule for the belt and tensioner listed in the owner's manual.
Having replaced the belt and tensioner on my 94cs turbo in a shopping center parking lot ten miles from home, you need more than just the tensioner and belt. Here is the list from memory. I think I carried many more than those listed below when I did it.
18" long 1/2" drive breaker bar to compress the tensioner to install belt,
a set of 1/2" drive metric sockets,
a set of torx sockets,
one 19mm wrench to use as a lever to remove the left-hand-threaded bolt on the tensioner bracket,
and pair of circlip pliers, (this may not be required if you remove the tensioner bracket together with its attachment to the timing chain cover, three torx screws)
I would not carry that many tools in my SAAB.
