Unfortunatley checking with crutchfield is not enough...
If they appear to be 6x9's then they are, there is no other size saab used. Crutchfield may be sending you 6 3/4's with adapter plates...
I don't like that set up as the adapters are usually made of plastic and not that tough (you want your baffle to be very rigid)
If I where to adapt a 6x9 to a 6.75 I'd use MDF or another speaker quality wood.
But I'd rather just put what fits in the first place, especially considering the fact that you will get fuller bass response from a 6x9.
On the bright side, if crutchfield did mess up, they are good about fixing their mistakes.
The seats are easy to get out, though you have to use time and care putting them back in. Make sure you don't strip anything or push the 'nut' part down.
As far as bypassing the factory amp, it's more of a question of running new speaker lines to the rear. There's no point is playing around with the factory wires, and special harnesses, when you can just run your own lines pretty easy.
I am under the impression that the factory amp only runs the rear speakers.
When I did my first upgrade in my 92 9kt, I just ran a fresh set of wires to the rear and tapped of the factories up front.
And as far as up north goes, it's cold, very cold here.
Chad
PS, I hope I haven't just made things more confusing, feel free to email if I need to clear anything up.
