Aero won't start

Today was warm in the Santa Clara Valley, about 78 degrees. I was driving around between soccer matches in my 94 Aero (130k miles) and everything seemed fine. (Hey, who says soccer dads have to drive suv's?) Well, we stopped at a park for about 15 minutes and the car wouldn't start when it was time to go. Cranking it over, it almost caught a few times, but died while cranking. Finally, it would only just crank around without any hint of ignition. I tried pulling off the electrical connectors from each of the sensors in the engine bay (one at a time) and cranking to see if I could invoke "limp home mode"; dead. I did hear the usual buzz from the DI to clean the plugs after cranking, and also pulled the DI and wiped clean the plug contacts which only had a bit of dialectric grease on them. Back together, crank it round, and nothing. I admit that I haven't changed plugs in 20k miles, but all other maintenance has been done. Dragged it home on the hook -actually the back of a flatbed.
Now that I'm home, I listen more carefully during the startup. When I first turn the key, I don't hear the brief buzz of a relay I thought occurred when the key was turned. Could this mean the fuel pump is toast? Is some sensor blocking fuel flow because it's "confused" or dead?
Thanks for your help! -Cal
