Hi,
Same happened to me a while ago. I called a locksmith (AAA). I watched him work so maybe this will help.
The reason this cyl is stuck is b/c of one or a couple of the tumblers are stuck and won't respond to the key. You can remove the whole cylinder but only after you are *able* to turn the key. (this is the shitty part) There is a tab on the cylinder that protrudes and can only be retracted after the key is turned.
First, remove the front cap of the cylinder by prying it off with a little hook or small screwdriver, this will give you access to the tumblers. Then, insert a small screwdriver, or a dental scraper (would be ideal here b/c of hook) and stroke and shake the tumblers. Do this and spay WD40 into the lock. Keep repeating and trying with the key after a couple of times.
You want to able to turn the key just onces.
If you turn the key, press of the tab and remove the cylinder. After the cylinder is removed its very easy to take it apart. Examine which tumbler is sticking and remove it. There are (IIRC) 10 of them, if you remove one its not going to compromise the security of your 11 year old car :)
If all fails, I would recommend calling a locksmith instead of destroying the cylinder because other wise you will have to get another cylinder and use two different keys for the door, trunck and ignition.
Good Luck,
Roman
