the pickup tube for the pump. This tube goes into an o-ring in the pump housing and needs to be seated correctly or you won't get good oil pressure and perhaps none at all. I did this on my '87 Turbo and the first time didn't get it lined up right. When I went back in to correct it I used something like a screwdriver to hold the tube from pushing back and made sure it was seated. I made sure it was seated by looking very closely at it with a flashlight AND I felt inside with my finger to make sure the tube was against the pump housing. If there is a gap between the housing and the tube you will likely have low or zero oil pressure. Other than that do as Dick mentioned and pack the pump with vaseline to prime it.
