As somebody who have both NG900 and 9000 (sold it) I don't like when people bash either. In my opinion, the 9000 ride is more comfortable, seats are larger, and feels a lot more stable on the road, etc, ...
The NG900 is more nimble at street manoeuvers, etc, and has a sportier feel to it. If I had a larger family, the 9000 would be my choice.
In terms of reliability, my NG900 has been trouble free (YES!!) since I bought it (7 months ago) whereas my 9000 cost me big $ to maintain BUT you're talking 7 years of difference. My 9000 changed 3 hands before me (she was leased first) whereas my NG900 had a single OWNER that maintained it at the dealer and was attentive to the smallest of details. In general, the same model 9000 should be as reliable. I believe 9000 parts are more expensive although not by much. I've never had a non-turbo Saab before and would never (call me a turbo-phobic) buy a 2.3l for that matter.
Know what you want and line up your expectations & budget, then you won't end up buying something (because the price is right) and not liking it thereafter (as had happened here).
Good Luck.
