Most people cannot tell the rear bushing on the front control arm is shot until they remove it and it falls apart in their hands. The front bushing typically lasts forever, and is much harder to replace (it's pressed into the sleeve). The rear bushing's lifespan is 75K to 100K miles.

Very easy job to do, and not costly at all.

Definitely try to see if the clunk might be coming from the dp moving too much from the fancy bracket it uses. But my guess is that it's the control arm bushing.
