The bulb has a rubber o-ring gasket, so it seals pretty good into the headlight. Sometimes it can be in there pretty good. Rock it slightly to break the seal, and pull it backwards.

There is an up and down on the bulb, and it will only go in properly one way. Just note which way the old one came out and stick the new one in. If you stick it in wrong, it won't go in nearly far enough - this is the hint that it's in wrong.

Avoid touching the glass part of the bulb with your hands or anything greasy. Grease will cause a hot spot on the bulb and can cause it to burn out quicker. I don't touch the glass portion if I can, and if I must touch it, I use a clean paper towel. Of course, this is for the new bulb only - the old one is dead already.

I don't remember if it's a 9004 or a 9006. Check the manual, or just pull the old one out and look at it - it usually has the number on it. Do yourself a favor and get a standard bulb - don't get Super White, Ultra Blue, or anything else that promises more light and a better sex life.

Lastly, buy two, and throw the other (still in its packaging!) into the glovebox. Even better, throw it into the emergency kit you keep - you know, the one with a couple of spare tail-light bulbs, spare fuses, a sealed gallon of anti-freeze, a couple of quarts of motor oil, a sealed pint of DOT 4 brake fluid, a set of jumper cables, a roll of paper towels and some disposable rubber gloves.
