with a deisil oil the long drain intervals most likely can be done with a filter change halfway.
A good thing for most people to do is look at the oil property specs on the M1 website to make a sound decision of what oil to use at what climate (and driving style), especially the viscosity @100C. Delvac 5W40, for instance as a greater 100C viscosity than many 10W40 synthetic oils, and a FAR higher amount of ash than M1 gasoline oils. I've use M110W30 in the past in hotsummers and I saw a notable drop in oil pressure at oil temperatures 100C and higher (I have a calibrated oil pressure gauge). Ass fuel dillution to the mix over time and I wonder what the hot viscosity would be then. But then again, to bew quite honest, do not know how or if M1 breaks down in viscosity over tome, dillueted with fuel, or not.
I've used M115W50 quite often and it is fine for turbo spool up etc, and I like Delvac as well. Infact I'm almost ready to try Valvoline Racing synthic 20W50 in the summer, as some of the mountain passes I saw 250F oil temps at ambient temperature of 35C. Another reason to have higher hot viscosity eh? ;-)
