The T5 on your Aero goes through a few pre-start checks: it gets data from the temperature sensor and the ambient pressure (MAP). With this, it determines an enriched start or clears the shut-down conditions stored from previous operation. If you engage the starter before this, the T5 wont be able to read all the starting parameters nor give the proper pulse length (fuel injectors) required for a cold start. Give the T5 a few seconds to do it's work and your engine will idle smoothly without hunting for the proper mixture parameters.
'94 white Aero, hmmmmmm;^)
