Peter, it's true that 5200 will bond just about anything to anything, I once used it to bond an outboard motor mount to the transome of my dingy, and when I had to remove it the fiberglass gelcoat came away with the plywood mount, BUT, 5200 takes a long time to cure, sometimes up to a week,
and it's messy. It will ooze out everywhere! So,it's not really just the ticket. Use a good epoxy. You can get a small amount at the auto parts store or a large amount at the marine store where you were going to get the 5200. Put a brick or something heavy on the veneer (I'm not sure it's really wood) to flatten it out while the epoxy sets up. I did this same job last year, it worked fine. Just follow the mixing directions carefully.
