Hey Chris,

I'm with you, & run nothing but premium, fully synthetic oil in my turbo. I've found (thru Used Oil Analysis) that a premium oil like Mobil 1 or Amsoil will easily stand up to 10k mile/1 yr oil changes in our super-oil-abusive engines.

I've been running M1 0W-40 for the past 10k miles, but I'm going to switch over to the new 5W-40 since it's even more durable & has a better additive package (more like Saab's OE oil formulations). If our winters rarely got below freezing here (it usually dips below 0°F several times each winter), I'd run nothing but M1 15W-50, which offers the best combination of film strength & additives for our turbos.

Check out the "Additives" forum on the link below for info on Auto-Rx. With that number of miles, you're due for a cleaning. I simply added it to my existing M1 for the cleaning, & I'm skipping a dedicated rinse phase (but my car's history is different). If you're going to use fresh oil, I'd recommend using Mobil's Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40 or Pennzoil's Long Life 15W-40 for the cleaning phase, & either the same for the rinse or Shell's Rotella T syn 5W-40 for the rinse. (The Rotella syn can also be used for the cleaning, but it may take a bit longer 'cuz it coats the metal surfaces better.)
