my 1993 cde 5spd 2.3 turbo has a driveablility problem...

the symptoms are...

1) for past several months, I would start the car in the morning and drive to corner which is approx. 200metres away and stop. At this point the car would stop running but I'd be able to restart right away with no more stalling.

2) for the past few weeks, in addition to symptom 1) above, the car would run extremely rough when just starting up cold. When I rev the engine, it would hesitate and eventually the revs would climb as normal. If I put the car in 1st gear, I have to over rev and feather the clutch to get the car moving without stalling.

3) When I rev the engine and then let the needle drop, it dips down much lower than normal to the point where the engine nearly wants to stall. As I recall, the needle is suppose to drop and then slowly move down to around 900rpm

4)The boost is as normal and the gauge shows normal readings (needle points to beginning of red and stays there) on hard acceleration. I also "feel" the power as normal except it is not as crisp and smooth running as before

What I've done so far....

1) read the archives for tips

2) cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner(fuel injector safe)-- ( I didn't take the throttle body off though) is it necessary to do so??????

3) put in stp fuel injector clearner in a full tank of 91 octane gas

4) changed all the vacuum tubes near the firewall (except for the one for the boost gauge) the ones closer to the front driver side look good.

5)put in new ngk spark plugs

6) performed the suck / blow test on the "hooter" valve and there is no leakage

Are there any other tests I can perform or does anyone have any ideas before I make a trip to the bank and then the dealer...

Thanks for all replies.
