I picked up a '91 9000K turbo 5 speed on e-bay for $2,400. 45,000 miles later I have had to put less than $1,000 into it and it runs like a champ. It would probably cost less money to look for something like mine than to switch engines, and yours would be a lot less powerful because it would still be the 2.0L engine. You current '93 engine probably has more horses than the '88. I am told by other members of this BB that the '91 9000T and '92 non TCS 9000T 5 speeds are the quickest Saabs ever made and you can find them very cheap. Good luck whatever you decide.
