Hello everyone...

While researching a problem i'm having with low boost... i realized the cruise control system will sometimes limit boost, but only while it is engaged.

after swapping my 90 9k turbo from automatic to manual, my cruise control stopped working completely, UNTIL TODAY...

I dug deeply into a page on townsends website, about how to diagnose cruise problems, and in one sentence i saw that the AUTOMATIC SHIFT SELECTOR had something to do with supplying the cruise ECU with power... only when the selector was in DRIVE though...

however, in order for the car to even start after the swap, we had to jump the connector so the car thought it was in NEUTRAL!

so i can swap to a 5-speed but i lose the cruise control?

I was pissed about this at first... but i took apart the center cluster and found the old auto shift selector harnesses... and townsends document said that power came from FUSE 9 to PIN 3 of the connector, and the out PIN 4 to the cruise system... it also said that these two pins were responcible for raising the idle speed when first shifting into reverse or drive... to help with the gear shift i suppose... it said nothing else of the other pins...

...so i took the plunge and jumped the pins together... started the car with no problems, and the insturment cluster still reported it was in NEUTRAL... so far so good...

...i hit the cruise control stalk switch... and low and behold, after TWO YEARS of having no cruise... the light FINALLY came on. Joyest of joys...

However, my joy was cut short while driving down the highway, and realizing that the light works, but the cruise still DOESN'T work... but hey, it's a great first step i suppose...

My question for ZEKE or anyone else who knows is... what are these pins doing for the engine idle speed exactly... and is it a good idea for them to be jumped all of the time?

what do the other pins to in the harness??? is there anything else that should be jumped into thinking the car is in drive so the system will run better??

I've been having horrible rough idle/stalling problems, even with replaced AIC unit... also... no cruise...

...so who can unravel the mystery of the automatic shifter selector harnesses for me?

also, what's the next step for cruise control fix?

thanks in advance
