poly or rubber for engine/trans mount?

Yes they are trashed. so along with the lowers, what is the best set up for a civilized driver who likes a tight feel at the shifter. are the poly alternative trans mounts the way to go or is stock everthing better. I also want a long life out of them. what about the upper engine mounts. it seems that rubber would be better up there, I am not looking for tiny performance gains.
