Hey,
I just returned from a 12-day, 2700 mile road trip/excursion in my 9K Aero. I'm sure I'd love the lotus, but I certainly enjoyed my Saab for those long days. I left Cooke City Montana (north-east of Yellowstone by only a few miles) on Monday evening (7:00) and arrived at my home (Nevada City, CA...about one hour west of north Lake Tahoe) on Tuesday morning at 11:00. Long drive? Yes. Beautiful time to drive through Yellowstone? Yes. Kinda weird watching the sun rise behind you in the Nevada desert after only one hour of rest at a relatively deserted rest-stop in Burley, ID? Yes.
Anyway... earlier in my trip (last tuesday, in fact) I was passed by a Hamann (sp) BMW somewhere in Montana...near Big Fork. I rolled on the accelerator to keep up with it and before I knew it...was doing 125 (okay, so I knew it the whole time...it was just really easy, that's all) and barely gaining on this car. Anyway...he gave me a look of confusion when we got bunched up at the next road work section...I don't think he realized what a 9000 Aero is all about. In all due respect, his BMW was very nice. A late e36 with Hamann aerodynamics/wheels..and the sound of a not-so-stock BMW....it was Powder Blue. Nice.
Anyway, I just thought I'd put my $0.02 in on the subject of the joys of Saab ownership/driving. Oh...and I got 31-33 MPG through the course of the trip....can't do that in too many cars.
