When the car's in negative adaption, it's going to tell the BPC to "dump" the turbo early all the time.
Maybe what I'm missing in my assumptions is the presence of a progressive rate spring within the wastegate actuator, so that if the rod is sufficiently short it gets hard enough to open the gate that the turbo continues to overboost.
I had been thinking that the only way to eliminate the BPC's effects would be to so tighten the wastegate rod that it cannot open at all (imagine that!!). Otherwise, whenever the Trionic says "open," the BPC opens and thus the wastegate is opened. The duration and amount of wastegate opening would be controlled by the BPC. But with a rising rate spring I can see how the wastegate would fail to respond to its instructions fully.
Incidentally, I assume we're using the term BPC to refer to the BCV, or Boost Control Valve, of the three-hosed, radiator-dwelling type.
