You guys got lot of things going on here, I don’t want post prices because of the rules, but if you look at my ads on the classifieds you can email me or call you can get prices and get any help you need. I also did test equipment, worked on F-14 on board Camera Systems Monitoring Pilot activity, Also 25 years as Tech, Supervisor, Calibration Manager, and Quality Assurance Manager. For a Telecommunication Repair center ( yes this is an online resume) . Plus my own shop for 30 plus years. If you want to DIY ,just a thought, I use some processor base sony equipment ($24,000) for working on cd player but for these most of my stuff for these custom built in house. The in-house equipment is built to our spec’s . I have a supply load tester that replaces the inner cd deck assembly, from this I do all the secondary supplies are monitored and checked, It test primary voltage and the ability each supply to deliver rated current, this unit also check the ability of the master micro controller in the radio to talk to the slave on the cd mother board. Also activates and checks the two main supplies for the laser. That’s just the power up sequence . There are 5 other boards or sections to these and each is tested separate from the main unit. We have a special jig for each board and motor circuit. We have 5 different test cds for adjustments and final test,$35 to $230) . The complete process is 2 to 16 hour, depending on the problems we find .
If you want to isolate your problems get an shorting plug (see classifieds ) , remove and disconnect the cd cage and place plug on red banded cable . If now, your radio takes code your cd needs work. We feel its cheaper in the long run , if you want the factory system , to have both units repaired and upgraded The reason is both the radio and cd player have problems that affect sound and to some point create similar symptoms. .If your blowing fuses I would also send in the cages , thanks Wasyl at Saabradio
