(Stock 1995 2.3FPT Auto running 98 octane)
You know all those posts that say how careful you should be when driving around with the "W" hose disconnected, to adapt the ECU...
Yup, you guessed it, I was overtaking a lorry and I overboosted, big "THUMP" and now I don't even get base boost and car is very slow.
If I try to accelerate, it just makes the intake roar louder and just creeps up slowly. The boost gauge seems to stop exactly on the line between green and yellow and If I push the throttle pedal, it moves a couple of mm into the yellow but no more. I know that Base boost on my car is exactly straight up, but this is different, it's not getting any.
Don't get me wrong, it's not so bad that you'd toot me when driving around town or on Motorway, it just drives like it's a 2.0L non turbo.
No extra scary noises from the engine, all smooth and idles fine (so hope haven't put a hole in a piston as I suspect I'd notice that, huh?)
I have checked wategate rod is connected to lever (as it fell off before) and I have disconnected ECU overnight just in case it received such a wallop from the knock sensor that it engaged some kind of limp home mode(?)
I'm hoping that someone will respond with a reply that begins "don't worry, it's only the XXXX. Just reset it and no permanent damage done"
Any ideas?
Regards
Andy (West London)
