aluminized steel (JT exhaust? stock exahust?) Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Thu, 18 Nov 2004 10:00:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I did some reading, and I know that aluminized steel is sheet steel with a coating of aluminum on both sides. I think it's eletroplated, I can't recall exactly. So obviously it will resist corrosion a lot better than standard steel, but not as much as stainless steel. What I'm wondering is what is the stock exhaust made out of? If it is also aluminized steel, then the JT system will be no more durable (I find the stock exhaust lasts less than 5 years before significantly rusting). In that case, the JT wouldn't be worth it for me. On the other hand, if the stock exhaust is standard steel, the JT one should last longer.
