You loosly place it in and then measure how much to cut off, if any, so that it fits perfectly in line with the rest of the exhaust. I had to cut about 2 1/2 inches off my downpipe, otherwise it would fit together, but it was too tight and my muffler hanger broke. Once you get the right fit use a jack or some blocks to hold the DP up at the right angle. If the water lines are touching, I just loosened the banjo fitting on the water pump and moved the line about 1/2 inch out of the way and then tightened it up, but the biggest culprit is the oil drain line out of the turbo which you can't move. You'll have to play around with it in good light an adjust the turbo nuts a little at a time, not all at once, making sure your clearances are staying put, once they get tight it doesn't budge. I didn't use exhaust sealer altough thats not a bad idea. I also hung my clamp sideways to keep the bolts from hanging down. I removed my lower intercooler hoses for better clearance and visuals. I recommend putting the car up on jack stands that are solid to give you more room. While I was down there I adjusted the wastegate a few threads as well. When taking off the old DP take the hanger off the engine rather than at the cat, it's much easier. Good luck, I think you'll be happy with how it runs.
