Yes, you did the right thing. No question about it. You ALWAYS settle if you can. If it makes you feel any better, you may not have had a choice. I am pretty confident that the prosecutor was going to make that deal whether you agreed or not. Would have been a waste of time for him to try the ticket simply because his witness didn't like the deal.

As far as the ticket impacting your claim for money damages, that depends on what the other driver plead to. The fact that he got convicted of something certainly helps you. You should call the Court and find out what he was convicted of. Even a defective equipment ticket helps your case dealing with his insurance company.
