Had to take my 91 9000 to my indie. saw a little oil leaking and couldn't see from where. Also wanted him to check out my heater core. it is failing and I wanted it replaced.

He found that the head gasket is leaking slightly and there's evidence of blowback. Diagnosis: only totally fixed by engine overhaul, but he recommends putting in an additive that will hopefully help and possibly stop the leaking. then he can clean the car up and see about the blowback.

on top of that, he doesn't want to attempt the heater core. a big job and might not be worth it if $2000-$4000 in engine repair. He suggested taking the heater core out of the loop for the summer months, but I don't know about that.

I have only had this car since december. When I bught it I saw no evidence of an leaks. I had my suspicions abou the heater core, but was willing to take a chance. At $2995 for a 9000 with 95K miles on it i took a chance. Now I have to drive this car back and forth from WV to Iowa for the next 2 years hoping it doesn't blow up.

Anyone with any advice would really be appreciated.
