My family had the unfortunate experience of getting a flat on Christmas eve this past holiday. With no places to fix the full-size, we ended up putting about 300 miles on the little guy over the course of Christmas eve, Christmas afternoon, and Christmas night travels (Extended family lives kinda all-over the bay area (Hi Scott!), and we visited more family on the way home in Modesto (Hi Scott!..the other Scott P!), and we came from Tahoe area).
Driving at about 55-60 MPH for only a portion of that tank of gas, we got over 600 miles on that tank ('01 9-5 manual, 185HP engine).
Are you talking about the little bar-display, or the average at the end of a long trip driving fast? I've never experienced better avg MPG displayed after driving faster...and my avg MPG figure always seems a little optimistic when compared to the #miles/#gallons calculation..but only a little. (I've had many 500+ mile tanks with my 9000 at regular highway speeds (70-80)).
