9K vs 9-5...
The 9K is bigger, lighter and more versatile. The chassis was an Ital design, shared by Lancia and Alfa Romeo, that was heavily modifed by Saab for the 9K platform. The later models were well sorted out and if taken care of provide many years of service. The B234 engine T5 Trionic seems to be the preferred powertrain for tuners and longevity.
The 9-5 is a German GM Opel platform. The early years for this car are not that great in terms of quality and handling. 2001 and beyond seem to get better reviews. The 9-5 is a nice road car...I like them, but, I prefer the 9K. And I can pretty much drive what I want.
