This is tough because I bet what you want is your '97 9K back, except with the reliability of a Honda. Can't be done. I'd personally go for the 9K and accept the (relative) unreliability. As an alternative, have you looked at 9-5 Aeros? I know the '99 9-5 isn't very exciting and has had some problems (I have one so I speak from experience) but I hear very good things about the post-2000 models. If you look at 2001 or 2002 you can benefit from that great Saab depreciation and wind up with a very nice vehicle.
