Greetings fellow saabers,
recently ive noticed kinda like a squeal type of sound when i startup my 1990 9kt. and i hear a low rattleing sound at idle, but i can only hear it when the bonnet is up. i think its comming from the left side of the engine, but cant tell if its comming from inside the engine or from the belts down the left there. Im hopeing its comming from the belts but im quite paranoid that its something to do with the timing chain, the cars got 150k kms on it and the timing chain has never been replaced .
I only bought a car a month or so ago and the serp belt was supposedly replaced just before i bought the car, so i dont think it could be a worn belt.
Where abouts in the engine is the timing chain situated? is it on the same side as the belts?
if its not the timing chain and its not that my belts need replacing, what could it be?
and is it something that i need to fix urgently?
Any help is much appreciated.
