First is the DI. Make sure he tested your car with a known good DI and not just a visual inspection of it.
Second, I'd check for other vacuum leaks. If the hose to the hooter valve was shot, chances are that there are other hoses leaking too. Also, test the bypass valve itself to see if it holds suction.
I'd also pull the plugs and take a good look at 'em to see how the engine is running. Is there any black smoke or other indication that the car is running rich?
A couple other things that come to mind would be the intake temp sensor or even the MAP sensor. I had a similar issue to this a while back, but it was throwing a CEL for the MAP. It turned out to be the intake temp sensor feeding the wrong info to the MAP, therefore the CEL. I believe your '93 still has a version of Trionic 5, so this could be true for your car.
