How to switch to summer mode of AC in 95 Aero????

My sister bought a 95 Aero (automatic) and the previous owner told her that he took the car to a Saab Dealer every summer to get the AC switched to the summer mode. Anyone have any idea what that might be. I am not a Saab person, but I will be visiting her in a few days and would like to work on it.
The STEALER she took it to told her it needed $800 worth of worth including a new heater core, because it will likely go in a few weeks--WHAT?????? and the replacement of some door on something. That dealer must be magic in predicting when the heater core on a car will die--especially in June.
Thanks
