Yes, that board still exists. You will find the answer to question 2 there. The weed sprayer is used to force flush liquid into the system when flushing. Works well and is cheap in comparison to the approved method.
I am unreasonably biased against the Seiko compressor because I think it's too fragile. Not that the Sandens don't have their troubles with front seals and clutch shafts. On my former 93 9000, I replaced the Seiko compressor with a Sanden from a 1997. It required more work and parts than I had expected but is still going 2 or 3 years later.
The clutch on the Seiko can be removed without discharging the system. If I recall correctly, it's held on by a snap ring or two under the plate. The trick will be getting the snap ring off with the compressor still attached to the hoses. I am sure it can be done.
