I'm still running 205/50-16s on the car, though one of these days if we keep it I'll find some 16x7.5s with +35 offset or so and go to something a little wider.

Anyway...the car came from the factory with some flavor of P7 or P700, I can't remember which. After the OE tires wore out, I've used:

Yoko AVS Intermediates (grippy enough and decent turn-in but a bit noisy and thumpy)

then I tried:

Dunlop SP8000s (they sucked, which is odd because I've used and liked the SP8000 a lot in larger sizes on other cars, but in the 205/50-16 on the Saab they sucked, lousy steering response and *no* grip.)

so I put on a set of:

Pirelli PZero Asimmetricos (they worked beautifully, the asymmetrical tread with the much stiffer outer blocks helps turn-in and overall grip a lot, compensates for the poor camber curve of the Macstrut front suspension, they ride well, aren't noisy, they last about 25K a set which is very good, they're not very good in the rain but for my use they're great)

and another set of PZeros, but then I cheaped out and put on some:

Bridgestone RE730s (they sucked too, their road manners were pretty good but the tread design ROARED, I couldn't believe just how bad they were, apparently they released a version with a different tread and then replaced it with the RE750 but I don't care, I'm not going back)

so I went back to PZero Asimmetricos again and life was good again and except for maybe the Continental SportContact2 or a Michelin MXX3 or PS2 I see no reason to ever use anything else on that car.

They're pretty cheap these days, too.
