As you may know from my earlier post, the ac compressor on my '92 9000 (manual controls; no ACC) is cycling on and off 40 to 50 times/minute. I've converted from R-12 to R-134a.
Took it to a local guy with no Saab but plenty of GM air conditioning experience so he could put it on his gauges. The gauges showed high pressure at 250 psi (which he feels indicates sufficient charge with R-134) and the compressor clutch would cut out when low pressure reached 21 or 22 psi. Due to his GM experience, he thought the compressor clutch shouldn't shouldn't disengage until about 18 psi. Therefore he wonders if the low pressure switch might be for the old R-12 system, and if my converting to R-134a would require a different pressure switch.
My '92 came with the new type ac system used on the '93 models which is when the switch to R-134a took place.
I noticed there were virtually no bubbles in the sight glass.
Only thing I haven't gotten round to is checking the anti-frost switch.
So what do you think? Could the problem be the low pressure switch, or does it need still more R-134? Or could it be the only thing I haven't checked yet (frost switch)?
Thanks.

ps. Anyone else headed to Indy for F1 this weekend?
